What do you charge?
I charge $175 for each 50 minute therapy session. At times -- particularly with couples -- I prefer to have 80 minute sessions, but this is something we will talk about at the beginning of therapy. I charge $220 for each 80 minute session. I accept cash and credit cards as payment.
Do you take insurance?
I do not directly bill insurance companies for therapy for several reasons, but the main reason is that I want you to be in control of your health records. Insurance companies require that therapists give their clients a mental health diagnosis (for example Anxiety Disorder or Major Depressive Disorder) before they will reimburse for therapy. This diagnosis will remain in your health record and insurance companies may share it with future employers or other entities. I don't accept insurance because I prefer that you and I be completely in charge of the nature and course of your therapy. If you'd like to know more about my policies, please ask me and I'll be happy to go into further depth.
Are there other payment options?
I have a small number of slots available at a reduced fee for those with limited income. In addition, if you have a PPO insurance plan (it should read PPO on your insurance card), your insurance may reimburse you for some of the cost of therapy (you would pay full price upfront and submit a bill to your insurance for reimbursement later). This enables you to cut down on costs without me having to report to your insurance company about our therapy. If you're interested in using your PPO insurance, please let me know before our first meeting.
